Political Games Year by Year
(in progress)

What gets a game onto this list

  • historical – it is set in a specific time and place. Not only does this let out fantasy and science fiction (Dune, The Sword and the Stars, Twilight Imperium, Galactic Emperor), but also more generic games like Junta
  • governmental – it is about governmental politics and not, for example, a playground
  • negotiational – players are politicking with one another and not with third parties, for example, voters, as in a presidential election
  • political – players primarily engaged in politics, and not primarily in war
  • simulational – the game cares about its subject; it's not just a thematic veneer
