This is an account of a play-by-email game. One optional rule was employed: the ability of the high bidder to choose from among 3 the tile placed with the Englishman.

Set-up:
Each of the five players begins at space 0 with 12 malt and 2 whiskies: Mortlach and Bunnahabhain.
Turn 1:
ME spends 4, moves 4.
AM, BY, RH spend 2 and do not move.
GM spends 1. Spends Mortlach and moves 2 spaces. Spend 1 to move to space 3. Purchase Laphroaig for 4 malt.
ME chooses new tile: Shrine. Next turn's choices: Mortlach, 5 Warehouse, 1 Checkpoint
All collect 4 malt except GM collects 5.

Turn 2:
BY and RH spend 9. BY transfers 3 malt to RH, moves to 7 and claims 6 malt.
RH moves to 7.
AM spends 7, moves to 5 and scores the 1 VP marker.
ME spends 6, moves to 8, spends Mortlach and ends at 10. Purchase Balvenie for 4 malt.
GM spends 4, ends at 6.
BY chooses new tile: 1 VP Checkpoint. Next turn's choices: Mortlach, Pub, 2 VP Checkpoint
All collect 4 malt except GM collects 5.

Turn 3:
AM spends 8, moves to 10.
All others spend 1. With no agreement, none move.

Turn 4:
ME and RH spend 4. ME transfers 3 malt to RH, moves to 13 and sells Mortlach at the pub for 5 VP. RH ends at 10.
BY spends 3 and ends at 10.
GM and AM spend 1, cannot agree and do not move.
AM chooses new tile: Glencraig. Next turn's choices: Mortlach, 2 VP Checkpoint, Bunnahabhain
All collect 4 malt except GM collects 5.

Turn 5:
RH spends 7, ends at 14 and picks up 1 VP.
AM spends 5, moves to 13, uses Mortlach to continue to 15 and spends 4 to pick up Tamdu.
GM spends 2 and ends at 8.
ME and BY spend 1. BY transfers 1 to ME. ME ends at 14. BY ends at 11.
BY uses Bunnahabhain on GM's Laphroaig. BY bids 2MP. GM bids 3. GM keeps his whisky and loses 3 MP. BY gets 3 MP and spends 2.
BY spends 8 MP to buy the Balvenie in space 37.
RH chooses new tile: 2 VP Checkpoint. Next turn's choices: Mortlach, Mortlach, Mortlach.
All collect 4 malt except GM collects 5.
Turn 6:
RH spends 7, ends at 17, uses Mortlach to continue to 19 and picks up 3 VP.
ME, BY, GM spend 2. By agreement, BY pays 1 each to ME and GM and movement order is (1) ME, (2) BY, (3) GM.
ME ends at 15 and uses Bunnahabahain to challenge GM to a duel over Laphroaig. GM spends 0; ME spends 1. Thus GM gets 1 malt and ME gets the whisky.
BY ends at 13 and sells a Bunnahabain for 5 VP.
GM ends at 10 and challenges ME to a duel over Laphroaig. ME vetoes this whisky use with Balvenie.
AM spends 1. Being in the same space as BY, does not move.
RH chooses new tile: Mortlach. Next turn's choices: 7 VP Checkpoint, 5 VP Checkpoint, Laphroaig.
All collect 4 malt except ME collects 5.
Turn 7:
ME spends 9, ends at 22 and sells his Bunnabhain at the pub for 5 VP.
BY spends 4, ends at 16, but does not move Englishman. Then uses Mortlach to move ME back to 20.
GM, AM, RH spend 1 and cannot agree. None move.
ME chooses new tile: Laphroaig. Next turn's choices: Pub, 2 VP Checkpoint, Bunnahabhain.
All collect 4 malt except ME collects 5.

Turn 8:
BY spends 8, ends at 22 and sells his Mortlach at the pub for 12 malt.
RH spends 4, ends at 22 and uses Bunnahabhain to challenge GM to a duel over Mortlach. GM spends 3, RH spends 2. GM keeps the whisky and loses 3 MP while RH has a net gain of 1 MP.
ME, GM spend 3.
AM spends 2, ends at 17 and spends 4 to pick up Mortlach.
BY chooses new tile: Bunnahabhain Next turn's choices: Glencraig, St. Culaban's Feast, 1 VP Checkpoint.
All collect 4 malt except ME collects 5.

Turn 9:
GM spends 23 and ends at 29. He sells Bunnahabhain at the pub for 12 malt.
BY spends 13 and ends at 33.
RH spends 8 and ends at 29.
AM spends 5, ending at 21.
ME spends 2, ending at 21.
Englishman moves past BY who gives up 1 MP.
GM chooses new tile: St. Culaban's Feast. Next turn's choices: 3 VP Checkpoint, Mortlach, 7 malt warehouse
All collect 4 malt except ME collects 5.

Turn 10:
GM spends 15 and ends at 42, crossing the finish line first.
BY spends 9 and ends at 42, crossing the finish line second.
RH spends 5 and ends at 34. He moves the Englishman forward 3 spaces.
ME spends 3, advances to 23 and claims 2 VP.
AM spends 2 and advances to 23.
Englishman advances 3 spaces and reaches 42. GM gives up 1 malt and BY 1 whisky.
